Referral Policy:
If a Queer Resource Center (QRC) staffer believes that a client is in danger of harming themselves or others, said staffer will refer the client to the Psychological Counseling Center (PCC). If the client agrees to go to the PCC, the staffer may contact the PCC and notify them of the situation or walk the client to the PCC following the counseling session if the client agrees to these actions. If the client refuses to go the the PCC and the staffer believes they are still in danger, the staffer may contact the Associate Dean of Student Life with as much information as possible in order to arrange a wellness check for the client in question. If the client refuses care and the staffer believes that they are in immediate danger of harming themselves or others, Campus Police may be alerted by the staffer with all information possible. The decision to report to the Associate Dean of Student Life and/or Campus Police will be made on a client-by-client basis at the staffer’s discretion. Staffers may always refer to the PCC regardless of whether they feel the client is at risk of harming themselves or others. In these cases, it is not required that an administrative official or campus police be notified.
